Smart economic corridor

Mercure project

The Mercure project aims to increase storage capacity and improve overall container movement (loading and unloading of ships, trains, trucks and container movement at terminals) using a deep learning solution (artificial intelligence) and on-board technologies (cameras and digital players).

Context of the project

Objectives: Digitization of the inventory and visibility of containers from their pick-up (arrival) by cranes on ships, trucks or trains, up to their transhipment on the final mode of transport (departure). Management of container handling by deep learning algorithms that determine their location based on a number of parameters (storage status, terminal availability, sequence of recovery of the goods, desired limitations on the number of container movements).

Positive fallout

Anticipated effects:

  • Increased storage capacity
  • Reduced loading and unloading time
  • Reduced waiting time for ships, trucks and trains
  • Optimization of the use of equipment and human resources
  • Reduction of 9,200 metric tons of anticipated GHGs per year.
