GVCdtLab
At GVC.dtLab, we are developing the SLGL dataHub, a digital twin of the bi-national St. Lawrence - Great Lakes region, the third largest economy in the world. We aim to aid decision making by providing real-time visibility into critical global value chains as their resiliency is tested with changing geopolitics and climate change. Using data science to study the networks of trade and transportation, we visualize regional interconnectedness beyond arbitrary geographic boundaries. By mirroring the real-world dynamics of this region, we make complexities induced by globalization more palatable. A CIRANO initiative, GVC.dtLab is also a hub for collaboration with actors from the trade and transportation ecosystem.

Strengths and competitive advantages
With our digital twin, we offer a unique perspective at the confluence of trade and transportation for decision making. We bring together disparate sources of data by collaborating with stakeholders in the ecosystem, bringing in synergy to siloed efforts. We also produce academic research, where our findings become the foundational data for further research.
Clientele
As a nonprofit research organization, we collaborate with the government (federal, provincial and municipal), research centres and the industry in Canada and the United States.
